Oregon Berry Packing was founded in 1948 with strawberries as its flagship product, and today frozen strawberries continue to be one of our strong sellers.
Selected growers, under contract to meet our specifications, produce all of our strawberries on selected fertile soil located in the Willamette Valley of Oregon. The mild weather of the Northwest lends itself as the perfect blend of moisture and sunshine for our premium Totem and Hood varieties. These varieties are prized for their high brix and luscious, red color that is present throughout each berry; however, their limited shelf lives keep the majority of fresh market shipments localized to farmer’s markets. Oregon Berry strawberries are solely marketed to the frozen wholesale market, where they are primarily used as an ingredient in fine ice creams and yogurts.
The naturally sweet flavor and deep, red pigment of our Totems and Hoods make them a healthy addition to a wide variety of recipes. Strawberries are chock-full of vitamin C and they are a good source of folate, fiber, potassium and antioxidants—natural substances that help protect cell structures by neutralizing free radicals. Additionally, they are low in carbs and calories, fat-free, and research has shown that strawberries may lessen the risk of certain types of cancer. Whether blended in a smoothie or used to top off a salad, strawberries are a deliciously healthy choice.
From ice creams, to yogurts, to soda pop, Oregon Berry Totem and Hood strawberries are used as the premium ingredient for products, worldwide.
Strawberries the Way You Want Them
Oregon’s strawberry harvest typically encompasses the month of June. Our processing plant uses the latest washing and sorting technology as well as manual inspections to meet the highest grade “A” U.S. standards. All of our strawberries pass through a metal detector, and custom packs for the Japanese market undergo additional inspections to meet even higher standards. We have great flexibility with our strawberry processing line and can deliver product sliced, whole, graded by size, and with or without sugar. Purees and concentrates are also available.
